On Thursday 27 November, at 6.30 pm, Piano Terra presents Questa non è una luminaria (This is not a light), the new exhibition by Fabrizio Cicero, a site-specific installation that explores the relationship between light, space and collective perception.
This project inaugurates a new cycle of interventions dedicated to light as an expressive and symbolic material, as part of Project Window, the programme of exhibitions visible 24 hours a day from the Piano Terra window, designed to create a dialogue between art and the city in a daily and widespread context.
Through a series of luminous sculptures and optical devices, the artist transforms the Piano Terra window into a landscape of reflections and ephemeral glimmers, where light ceases to be mere decoration and becomes language.
The work plays with the ambiguity of the title – this is not a light display – ironically denying its own appearance to invite a deeper reflection on the meaning of light, celebration and community.
The project was conceived as a poetic rewriting of the popular imagery of illuminations, elements that, although rooted in tradition, are emancipated here from their ornamental function to take on a symbolic and relational value.
In the Piano Terra showcase, the luminous forms not only draw figures but also build relationships: between materials, between those who look and those who cross the square, between the idea of light and that of presence, in a continuous tension between appearance and reality.
Preceding the inauguration of the installation, on Thursday 27 November, from 2pm to 6pm, there will be a workshop led by the artist during which participants will be able to design and create their own luminous sculpture, using simple materials and accessible techniques.
The elements created will be lit at the end of the workshop to continue the luminous path within the Piano Terra space. In addition to being a moment of encounter and creative sharing, the activity represents a participatory extension of the artist’s exhibition work.
