Today, Monday 22 September, marks the start of an important event in Rome that links the Roman territory to the international scene: the Film Flaminio Festival, dedicated to young talent and a sustainable future, now in its 12th edition (22-25 September 2025).
Conceived as a showcase for young talent and a laboratory for transgenerational ideas and visions in the continuity between institutions and communities, the festival is hosted at the Cinema Arena Tiziano, an iconic venue in a neighbourhood where MAXXI and Aditorium in Rome, in addition to being important international institutions dedicated to the transversality of the arts, have been important drivers of redevelopment in the neighbourhood, an area previously intended to house military facilities.
The jury president and soul of the Festival is master photographer Sergio Salvati, whose passion and vision have helped to make it a unique event for young filmmakers.
The (nearby) MAXXI Museum has launched a collaboration with the introduction of the MAXXI Special Short Film Award for Photography, strongly supported by Margherita Guccione, scientific director of the Grande MAXXI project.
The jury is led by Enrico Giovannini, economist and scientific director of ASviS, a symbol of commitment to Agenda 2030 and sustainability, and supported by prominent figures such as Giuditta Albanese of Treccani, who will award the Treccani Prize for Best School Short Film.
The Festival, sponsored by the Lazio Region, the Municipality of Rome and the II Municipio, will kick off on Monday 22 September at the Cinema Arena Tiziano with a meeting with Tony Saccucci, director of Il pugile del Duce – La vittoria contro il razzismo (The Duce’s Boxer – Victory Against Racism). This will be followed by the screening of the first five short films in competition, which will be voted on directly by the audience in the theatre.
