{"id":32261,"date":"2014-11-24T08:43:59","date_gmt":"2014-11-24T07:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.arshake.com\/art-of-sound-tempo-rubato\/"},"modified":"2014-11-24T08:43:59","modified_gmt":"2014-11-24T07:43:59","slug":"art-of-sound-tempo-rubato","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arshake.com\/en\/art-of-sound-tempo-rubato\/","title":{"rendered":"Art of Sound: Tempo rubato"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_3312-small\" src=\"http:\/\/www.arshake.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_3312-small-500x333.jpg\" width=\"619\" height=\"412\" data-wp-pid=\"15042\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project of Augustin Maurs is the fifth appointment of \u00abOne Space\/One Sound\u00bb, a series of exhibition on visual art and sound appositely conceived for AuditoriumArte at the Auditorium \u2013 Parco della Musica Roma.\u00a0For this occasion and during the three days AuditoriumArte is transformed in the artist\u2019s studio, where musicians belonging to various and different traditions are invited to play together, experimenting on the musical concept of \u00abtempo rubato\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_3361-small\" src=\"http:\/\/www.arshake.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_3361-small-500x333.jpg\" width=\"620\" height=\"412\" data-wp-pid=\"15043\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If music is traditionally organized through quantifiable time parameters, it is also the evidence of the unquantifiable essence of time. Appearing in the 19th century, the notion of \u00abtempo rubato\u00bb, Italian for \u00abstolen time\u00bb, precisely evokes the rhythmic freedom taken by the interpreter, the transitory and unmeasurable essence of the musical act. As a musical union between time and space, the \u00abrubato\u00bb is inherently singular and irreproducible. It opposes synchronization, which is precisely what enables music to be reproduced.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_3365-small\" src=\"http:\/\/www.arshake.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_3365-small-500x333.jpg\" width=\"619\" height=\"412\" data-wp-pid=\"15040\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The exploring of this idea of \u00abrubato\u00bb transforms the exhibition rooms in a lively space, a space of encounters and experimentations in continuous movement trough the combination of an electronic soundtrack and live playing. An assemblage of scores is at the disposal of the musicians and the visitors. This notational inquiry consisting of invented signs, stains and quotes, almost casual poetical events, though denies the actual use of music notation, but rather\u00a0 brings about a reflexion about \u00abgiven\u00bb and stolen time, about music and playing.\u00a0Visitors are free to attend the series of musical sessions and activities, which will take place during the three days of the project in preparation to an \u00abopen concert\u00bb due to happen the last day of the show, November 28 at 7:00 pm. He combines performative with collaborative and conceptual practices. His work is situation related and focuses on the very idea of music making.
