MoRE, a Museum of Refused and Unrealised Art Projects, a digital museum that since almost ten years explores the themes revolving around unrealised art projects, presents an online conference dedicated to the new design perspectives that emerged in visual and performing arts, exhibitions and critical debates during and after the pandemic: three days full of interventions and debates on these themes will take place in September, with the voices of international artists, researchers, art historians and curators.
The lockdown of the projects, a conference curated by Elisabetta Modena, Valentina Rossi, Marco Scotti, Anna Zinelli, organized by MoRE. a Museum of Refused and Unrealised Art Projects in collaboration MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna | Istituzione Bologna Musei and CAPAS – Università di Parma, will be held online on Thursday 16, 23 and 30 September, from 4 to 7 pm, on Zoom and on the museum and partners official Facebook page.
In this particular historical moment, we believe that the underlying assumptions of the unrealised and the issues concerning digitisation processes – two of the main research topics for MoRE – are still central to the debate on artistic design, exhibitions, and nature of the archive and the museum.
Nine years after its birth, MoRE explores the themes that concern the art project, the reasons that can question the realisation of an artwork, the potential of the digital tools for the preservation, enhancement and animation of the historical and artistic heritage.
Starting from assessing how much the containment measures related to the pandemic have affected activities, exhibitions, and the entire art system, this conference aims to question how the projects and the artists’ design methods have changed. How the artworks and related digital practices have been reformulated?
In the light of the events – pandemic and isolation – new perspectives emerged, related both to artistic research and the preservation and transmission of the memory of work processes? By alternating voices of artists, scholars, art historians and curators, this conference deals with a radical change in our way of reflecting upon the artistic project and the possibilities of its realisation.
During the three days, which will be divided into talks, lectures, interviews and dialogues and will be dedicated to The unrealised art project, Unrealised projects, between the museum and the archive and Cultural institutions and digital technologies, more than thirty international curators and researchers will participate in the discussion. All the interventions will be published in a monographic issue of the University of Parma academic journal “Ricerche di S/Confine” by 2021.
