In 2012, IBM scientists announced the creation of the world’s smallest magnetic memory bit, made of just 12 atoms. In moving atoms to explore the limits of data storage, the nano-physics stretched the limits of filmmaking by creating a short made by moving atoms, using scanning tunneling microscopes. The Guinness World Records™ has confirmed for it to be The World’s Smallest Stop-Motion Film.
