VIDEO POST relaunches the documentation of Zoom Pavilion an immersive installation by Rafael Lozano Hemmer and Krzysztof Wodiczko, that projects visitors on the 3 walls through 12 computerised surveillance systems trained on the public. he piece uses face recognition algorithms to detect the presence of participants and record their spatial relationship within the exhibition space. Everything changes when the system zooms in their faces. The project, conceived in 2013 and realised in 2015, marks the first collaboration between Hemmer and Krzysztof Wodiczko, reknown for his practices of ‘projection mapping’.
