The Marymount California University Marylyn & Chuck Klaus Center for the Arts seeks video art submissions for group show titled “Chrysalis Lenses: A Brief Survey of Contemporary Video Art.” Each artist may submit multiple works. The submitted work(s) must be no longer than 10 minutes maximum length. Works submitted must have been created within the last five years. Through this show, we are interested in seeing the visual responses, in order to find out if past and present continue to intersect or not.
We invite the artists to consider questions surrounding the current state of video art, like how has video art changed in the last 40 to 50 years? How is it different? How is it different from video made for television, cinema, and broadcast? How do mass media, cinema, and contemporary video art influence each other? Vice versa? How does video work meant to be exhibited in art galleries, separate itself from all other forms of video?
