Since its inception in the mid-’60s video art is gaining ground and prestige within the art scene. Its presence in Museums, Fairs and Biennials isnow large and centrally located. With the amount of technological means for the production of this art form (from a mobile phone to the PC and its simple programs) video art becomes a democratic inclusion, extended in all social forms, allowing to protect creative freedom of the authors and artistic experimentation, thus limiting the risk of introduction of a unique pattern of thinking that sacrifices in his account the diversity and legitimacy of other national and cultural identities. In Argentina, despite having artists and theorists widely recognized, there is not yet developed a festival on an international level, providing an excellent opportunity for FIVA to transform into a window to the world, that connects us and allows us to move new aesthetic sensibilities, forms and strategies of communication.
