FRAME captures Ai Weiwei’s latest work, a project that confronts him with an AI. Over the course of 81 days, the length of Ai’s incarceration in a Chinese prison, the artist will pose 81 questions to the artificial intelligence (AI) and the audience, streamed on Piccadilly Lights, every night at 8:24pm (local time). Inspired by the Tiānwèn (天問, translated as ‘The Questions of Heaven’ or ‘Questions to Heaven’), a series of 172 questions to the gods written on the walls of a temple some 2300 years ago by the legendary poet Qu Yuan, Ai Wei Wei’s work focuses on the ‘freedom to ask questions’.
