FRAME relaunches the project by Jeroen van Loon where past and present, conservation and obsolescence coexist on cables generally used to bring connection inside the houses. The Gutenberg Bible, the very first mass-produced printed book in Europe in 1450, is printed on 12km glass fiber Direct Access Cable (DAC). Printed on the cable are also a series of contemporary Youtube comments that were found below videos on topics such as bitrot, data loss and (failed) back ups.
Jeroen van Loon, Permanent Data, 2020
Permanent Data was made possible with the generous support of Utrecht Down Under, Mondriaanfonds and Fonds21 | The DAC cable was manufactured by Twentsche Kabelfabriek | The printing was done by De Koningh.
