VILLAM Association and Arshake. Reinventing Technology are pleased to present
“GAME OVER-Future C(o)ulture” at the IX edition of Maker Faire (Rome, 8-10 October, 2021). This project aims to research and study new “cultural entities”, people, objects or research from different disciplines (i.e. Physics, Bio-robotics, AI, Agriculture, Medicine) and their move to the art world. This project sees its first exhibition in the spaces of the Gazometro Ostiense.
On this occasion, as a bridge project between Maker Art Faire and Agrifood, Villam and Arshake present an installation by Alessandro Giuggioli, accompanied by a Call for Ideas 5.0 for young Makers and Artists. Giuggioli is the founder of the company Quintosapore which will engage into dialogue with the future winners of the Call, invited to attend a residency project in Città della Pieve.
With his installation, Alessandro Giuggioli brings his research focused on biodynamic agricultural techniques and his experience as custodian of ancient seeds for the CNR to the industrial archaeology of the Gazometro, the Maker Fair theatre, showing his willingness to engage in experimental research in combination with the most advanced technologies.
This project is part of GAME OVER. Future C(o)ulture, which participates in the current debate starting from the urgent need to act: to recover the ancient value of “téchne”, and to sink its roots into Italian culture and extend them to international culture in order to reconfigure a nascent geography, a new architecture of knowledge, which is both plural and innovative.
It starts from the ground up, metaphorically but also materially. Quintosapore, together with Città Della Pieve, will become the stage for a transdisciplinary project moving between agriculture’s more radical practices and advanced technology.
Alessandro Giuggioli’s installation at Maker Faire and the Call for Young Makers represent the first steps in a long-term project aimed at reconstruction. The project is rooted in a historical area of industrial archaeology which will become a manifesto of future models for replicable and sustainable urban regeneration that will be realised with the Future C(o) ulture that GAME OVER is developing.
The installation by Alessandro Giuggioli that accompanies the call for ideas, is part of Maker Art Faire, curated by Valentino Catricalà. Maker Faire European Edition, Roma, 08-10.10.2021
