CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS > MARIO MERZ PRIZE
Deadline: May 31st, 2018
Entries for the third edition of the Mario Merz Prize can be submitted from 11 December 2017 until 31 May 2018. The Mario Merz Prize is awarded every two years and was established to identify and showcase artists in the fields of art and music, selected by a close international network of experts.
In the art section, artists taking part must be nominated by curators, museum directors, critics, gallerists or members of other cultural associations. In the music section, composers must be nominated by music institutions, interpreters, music critics and experts in the music field. Composers and artists cannot nominate themselves.
The five art finalists will be the protagonists of a collective exhibition, while the five composer finalists will present a work to be performed at a concert. The judging panel responsible for the pre-selection process will be made public once the call for entries has closed.
In the next stage, an international panel together with a public vote will choose the winners of both sections. The artist will be awarded a commission for a solo exhibition project in Italy and Switzerland, while the composer will be commissioned to write music for a string quartet, which will be performed at a concert, and to create a musical composition for a museum space.
