The seventh installment of Arshake’s editorial project, the “Critical Grounds” series, is proposing The Game of the Crossed Destinies. Between art and critique, or the case of Elena Bellantoni by Simona Brunetti. The result of the desire to reflect upon two travelling companions – art and critique -, The Game of the Crossed Destinies. is a small yet precious reflection that enriches the “Critical Grounds” section with an analytical outlook spanning from the revolutionary contributions of Duchamp’s philosophy and those of Lyotard, Menna, Danto and other eminent art theorists while building an itinerary towards the artwork as a critical device.
On the complex nature of the relationship between art and critique, the figure of Elena Bellantoni becomes a borderline case and her work a space for reflection. It’s a device where the respective roles of art and theory, of artist and critic, are linked to the same game that inevitably cross the destinies.
