CONTACT artecontemporanea Gallery, in collaboration with Filosofia in movimento and Folderol, presents a series of works by musician Marco Ariano as part of a solo exhibition entitled «Ostensioni dello sperdimento / Displays of Spurning».
The exhibition follows the presentation of the album From Dance (to Dance)? (Folderol, 2023) with a selection of 28 works, representing the various phases of Ariano’s artistic activity. The exhibition space will be traversed by music from the artist’s project-recordings (from 1999 to 2022), which will be composed in an unprecedented play of resonances with the works on display.
Presentations, notes, first impressions, notes in the margin, initial intuitions – this is how the author presents the works in the exhibition. The graphics are more or less this. Something very private, which has always been there and which, almost secretly, accompanied my musical and performance work. Then in recent years they have taken space and unpretentiously imposed themselves. These signs are with the sounds, with the movements of bodies, they belong to the same feeling. A work on the minimal, forms of the barely, informal miniatures written out of dictation.
They are signs, graphemes/phonemes, micro-manifestations that arise from abandonment, from being outside. And this is the backstage of all my work (my life’s work): to suspend oneself, to fail, to miss oneself. Becoming a dispensable body. Getting out of the groove of the already given, losing oneself to find oneself in the breath of other forms of existence, dispersing and proliferating in resonance. The hand is quivering, it writes what happens, it moves marking possible. Partitions. Maps of disorientation. Experiments.
