VIDEO POST relaunches Beautiful Numbers, a film comprised in the new body of work by Stefan Sagmeister, a New York based designer (b. 1962, Bregenz, Austria), conceived in 2020 as a continuation of a philosophically driven approach that looks in the long term perspective against the short-term media. Sagmeister has visualized data collected over 100 years and transformed these graphs into inlaid 19th Century genre paintings, embroidered canvases, lenticular prints and hand painted water glasses – all of which will were displayed for the first time at the Thomas Erben Gallery (New York, April – May, 2021). Numbers and the graph they represent collocate the speedy knowledge produced by media within the larger context of history through time.
