Counterpoint is an instrument conceived by engineer and musician Dan Gorelick capable of translating drawing (projected on the wall in the shape of colored circles) in notes patterns generated through Supercollider (a platform for audio synthesis and algorithmic composition). Counterpoint is a term employed in music to indicated the combination of musical lines with strongly independent identities. Of this composition fundamental is the collaborative aspect. Visitors are invited to participate to add new patterns through an iPad located on a music stand. Code, translation, and collaboration are the roots of a research strongly oriented towards interactive design.
