The animations that you see here are extracts from the film Flatlandia, realized by the Italian mathematician Michele Emmer and inspired by the homonymous romance by Edwin A. Abbott. The story is about the adventures of a square that lives in the bi-dimensional world in its journey towards knowledge, to find evidence of the third dimension, and to sense the existence of the forth one, and of many possible other ones. The soundtrack comprises pieces by Eric Satie and by Ennio Morricone, who composed the music for the animation.
The film is distributed with the bilingual edition of Flatlandia, Bollati Boringhieri, Turin 2008 (orig edit., Edwin A. Abbott, Flatland. A Romance of Many Dimensions, 1884)
