Video post captures the web version of I am sitting in a machine by Martin Backers, between analogue and digital, human and no-human. The project quotes the historical performance I am Sitting in a Room by Alvin Lucier (1969) where the author records his voice reading a text over and over, until the voice become unrecognizable and only the noise is left to reveal, through the eco of sound, the characteristic of space. In the case of Martin Backers the voice, the one of a human, is converted into an artificial one and the tape is substituted by the modern MP3. The space is the one of the computer. Besides the web version, there is also a Vynil version produced in a limited edition of 30 pieces.
