Videozoom is an initiative in progress produced by the Roman based cultural association Sala 1, which intends to show contemporary video art in various territorial situations around the world. With Videozoom: Denmark, the project reaches its fifteenth edition, following those in Israel, Poland, Iran, China, Spain, San Marino, Morocco, Japan, Quebec, Bangladesh, Greece, Kurdistan, Iraq and Romania. Videozoom: Denmark enjoys support from Roma Capitale, the Danish Arts Foundation and the Danish Arts Academy in Rome, and the patronage of the Embassy of Denmark in Rome.
Videozoom: Denmark presents the work of six Danish artists, already established internationally, who consider video one of their strongest forms of expression. Their videos focus on the interweaving of memory and everyday life, sometimes related with irony and imagination, sometimes with a reporter’s eye for detail. Within them emerge issues dear to contemporary Danish society, such as the individual’s role in the social group and the power relations created. The artists, from different generations, pose questions to the viewer on historical and human themes, often with reference to the psychological aspect. (from the press release)
