The 12th edition of CYFEST is currently taking place at the Media Center in New York. CYFEST is a Festival dedicated to media art, established in St Petersburg by independent artists and curators in 2006. This year the theme of the Festival focuses on the dynamics of identity in the digital era. With E.V.O.D.E.V.O.R.E.V.O., Carla Gannis curates an installation created in collaboration with students from the Pratt Digital Art Institute, which investigates the genetic and mimetic evolution, de-volution, and re-volution of human knowledge.
Within the Festival the video – screening curated by Victoria Ilyushkina addresses issues on digital identity from different perspectives. Valentino Catricalà offers an important contribution from Italy by presenting Psychedelic Lock by Daniele Puppi, a multi-channel installation from 2016 that, once again, moves image and screen into the physical space, in this case contributing to the materialisation of the interstitial space between two screens, restoring their corporeality with the complicity, as always, of the soundtrack.
The CYFEST mission continues: promoting the emergence of new art forms and. More importantly, ti continues the development of connections between artists, curators, engineers and programmers.
