Guido Laudani. La città andando

Arshake by Arshake

in focus

Guido Laudani’s photographs are now on display in the exhibition spaces at Interno 14 in Rome, the city that features in his works snapped on his smartphone, his preferred device, as the curator states in the text that accompanies the show, to “(…) bestow upon us a metaphysical, even somewhat bleak scene, something muffled that reveals, in the frame of this fragmented reality, a suspension of time and space”.

Laudani started exhibiting his photos in the second half of the ‘80s, and has done more regularly since 1992, then going on to focus on night culture and street trends, following the Mille Miglia on its Roman leg and the highly diverse world of vintage car collection; he is also recognised as one of the very first photographers of Burlesque in Rome, a theme which has been at the forefront of some of his most important shows.

In the field of Photography, Guido Laudani – Veronese by birth but Roman by adoption – started out as a freelancer for several technical publications for the civil aviation sector, even shooting covers for the prestigious “Aviazione di Linea Aeronautica e Spazio”; alongside these collaborations, he has also worked as a still photographer in Cinema, Theatre and TV, then delving into the more creative environment of Clubs in and around Rome, publishing his work with various industry periodicals and magazines from 1983 as well as contributing written work, as he did, for example, for the famous “Il Giaguaro”.

He started exhibiting his photos in the second half of the ‘80s, and has done more regularly since 1992, then going on to focus on night culture and street trends, following the Mille Miglia on its Roman leg and the highly diverse world of vintage car collection; he is also recognised as one of the very first photographers of Burlesque in Rome, a theme which has been at the forefront of some of his most important shows. Recently, he collaborated with Fabio Gasparri to shoot the last two Collections from the brand Alessandra Giannetti (Capsule#2 and Autumn-Winter 2018-2019).

He has regularly worked with artists, galleries, foundations and art editions, as this field has always interested him and makes up a part of his usual social circle. Currently the official photographer for the Fondazione Volume! in Rome, he is also admired for his photographic accounts of events and exhibitions – which he also posts on Artapartofculture – as well as images of the city and culture of Rome, which also take centre stage on his Blog Roma on the Road. The first edition of “La città andando” was exhibited at the Fondazione Volume in 2013.
