The first appointment with Refresh has just started. This research project regarding the “fresh” expressions of Italian art focuses primarily on the artistic mediums that came into being over the past twenty years during our digital age and more specifically on those dealing with geographic dislocation. Projects are always created in different spaces and with different curators. This first appointment is curated by Fabio Paris and opens on 22 October 2016 at the “Spazio Contemporaneo” in Brescia. The exhibit is entitled Layers and is presenting works by twelve artists whose aim is to showcase the various layers of digital images in their various definitions: the ones interposed between code and interface and those that are nestled between the layers of material.
During the exhibition, the new Link Cabinet project will also be launched: an online area managed by Matteo Cremonesi where work by Giovanni Fredi is introduced. His cathartic journey is experienced through modern day objects converted into 3D models. This art was inspired by the Qingming Festival, a Chinese religious ritual during which paper items are burned. (from the press release)
