Careof, the Milan no-profit organisation involved in artistic experimentation since the eighties, presents CINEMODERNO, a project that explores the interaction between moving images and performance (including the experience of sound). Following the prologue, with work by ZimmerFrei, the project continues with a series of events and live performances, four episodes which occupy the space in turn for 10 days each, conceived first as live performance and subsequently in the form of installation. CINEMODERNO also features several architectural structures, designed for the live sessions and created by the collective Parasite 2.0, recent winners of the 2016 YAP prize at the MAXXI museum in Rome.
The selected works investigate the various facets of contemporary society and – in parallel – explore artistic languages. Promoted by an institution which is home to one of Italy’s most important archives of contemporary art, the project is also a kind of active archive, where live performances, lasting an evening, are transformed into “installational memory” which remains for the 10 days following each artist’s performance.
