Il video cattura l’installazione FREQUENCY PAINTING : SOUNDBURSTING NO.1 (2012) di Gary James Joynes, sound artist, compositore e visual intermedia artist, interessato a rendere il suono percepibile attraverso processi sinestetici. «Cosa succederebbe se potessimo vedere il momento in cui il suono è creato? Immaginiamo che il suono esca fuori dalla sua fonte per suonare con altri suoni… Cosa vedremmo?» Sono queste le domande, espresse nello statement dell’artista – e lo stimolo che dà forma al progetto. Così nasce il duetto tra tono e immagini in due composizioni separate che interagiscono e si intersecano continuamente. Così Joynes dipinge e ritrae le frequenze che si affacciano nel mondo ‘percepibile’.

Artist Statement:
Sound is a ubiquitous element in the human experience – its presence or absence defines spaces, emotions, experiences, and time. My explorations and experimentations in art are focused on the active process of listening to, looking at, and feeling sound; slowing down time and linking sensoria to encourage immersion in a whole body experience.
Two separate compositions play continuously. Looping on different durations the pieces interact and intersect in an evolving movement. Tone and image appear and decay in a duet reflected infinitely: a visual approximation of the complex interplay of sound waves engulfing us every day.
